Although she has all the money in the world, she spends a better part of her day plotting against people of the opposite gender. Her fortune is the reason her life got shredded on her wedding day when her fiance jilted her because his only intentions were money. Since that shameful day, she had a grudge against men and lived a depressed life, even making sure her adopted daughter, Estella carries on this grudge. On Pips first visit to Satis House, she even told Estella to break [Pips] heart (Dickens, 58). This sets the truth in place that even people with money cant just receive happiness. The next example is the blacksmith that raised Pip as his own, Joe Gargery. Joe is a simple man, having a decent salary, and enjoying the simple things in life. He is shown throughout sections in the book being comfortable in his normal lowlife environment and tense in the higher-class territory, such as the Satish house and London. Joe finds the necessities of love and happiness even while having a low income. According to an article written by Keith Selby, when Joe and Pip arrived at Satis house so Pip could be apprenticed to his fatherly figure, Joe is unnerved and affronted by what he sees as her strange desire to turn his relationship with Pip into a commercial one. Dickens uses repetition and imagery to show the corrupt justice systems offered to citizens in the Victorian Society. There are two instances within the middle of the book that prove his point. The first instance occurs in chapter 42, when Magwitch is sharing his past criminal history with Pip and Herbert Pocket,warnt it him [Compeyson] as had been knowd by witnesses warnt it me as had been tried afore warnt it Compeyson as was recommended to mercy and warnt it me as got never a word but Guilty? (Dickens, 440). Dickens points out the biased legal system as Compeyson who was a rich, mannered, and well-dressed young man was received a lesser sentence than Magwitch who was a needy, poorly dressed man. The repetition of the quote shows all the advantages that Compeyson had in court by having a higher social status and his gentleman like behavior and appearance and all the disadvantages Magwitch had in court by being an ex-convict, even though they did commit the same crime as partners. Now, due to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 a minor conviction in a convicts past can be ignored; however, Magwitch who stole turnips as an orphaned child for survival provides an insight on the different treatment received during a trial between people of the upper and lower class. Dickens also uses imagery to prove his point by saying, this woman [Molly] was so very artfully dressedshe looked much slighter than she really washad only a bruise or two about her (Dickens, 495). Pip was at his guardians house when he noticed the striking similarities between his lover and Molly, Mr. Jaggerss housekeeper. Mollys past showed that she was tried for murder because of jealousy and Mr. Jaggerss who was her lawyer, exploited her exterior appearance to win the case, even though all evidence pointed to Molly. The imagery of this quote shows how something about a person can be manipulated easily in court to their advantage. Mr. Jaggers even washes his hand to rid the guilt from his unethical decisions in court. He uses his achievements to get the judges trust, even if his client is guilty. In conclusion, Dickens uses figurative language to point out all the factors the judicial court uses to come to a verdict about a convict, using past lives and external image, in society are amoral.

The tail fibers help the phage attach to its host and the tail helps to inject the viral genes into the host. A bacteriophage may exist as: viral genes in a capsid head with no tailviral genes in  a capsid head with a taila filamentous or rod-shaped capsid with circular single-stranded DNA. Bacteriophages pack their genome How do viruses fit their voluminous genetic material into their capsids? When this phage infects another bacterium, it injects the DNA from the previous bacterium into the host cell. The donor bacterial DNA then may become inserted into the genome of the newly infected bacterium by recombination. As a result, the genes from one bacterium are transferred to another. Nurse Ratched Essay A former army nurse, Nurse Ratched represents the oppressive mechanization, dehumanization, and emasculation of modern society—in Bromden’s words, the Combine. Her nickname is â€Å"Big Nurse,† which sounds like Big Brother, the name used in George Orwell’s novel 1984 to refer to an oppressive and all-knowing authority. Bromden describes Ratched as being like a machine, and her behavior fits this description: even her name is reminiscent of a mechanical tool, sounding like both â€Å"ratchet† and â€Å"wretched.† She enters the novel, and the ward, â€Å"with a gust of cold. † Ratched has complete control over every aspect of the ward, as well as almost complete control over her own emotions. In the first few pages we see her show her â€Å"hideous self† to Bromden and the aides, only to regain her doll-like composure before any of the patients catch a glimpse. Her ability to present a false self suggests that the mechanistic and oppressive forces in society gain ascendance through the dishonesty of the powerful. Without being aware of the oppression, the quiet and docile slowly become weakened and gradually are subsumed. Nurse Ratched does possess a nonmechanical and undeniably human feature in her large bosom, which she conceals as best she can beneath a heavily starched uniform. Her large breasts both exude sexuality and emphasize her role as a twisted mother figure for the ward. She is able to act like â€Å"an angel of mercy† while at the same time shaming the patients into submission; she knows their weak spots and exactly where to peck. The patients try to please her during the Group Meetings by airing their dirtiest, darkest secrets, and then they feel deeply ashamed for how she made them act, even though they have done nothing. She maintains her power by the strategic use of shame and guilt, as well as by a determination to â€Å"divide and conquer† her patients. McMurphy manages to ruffle Ratched because he plays her game: he picks up on her weak spots right away. He uses his overt sexuality to throw her off her machinelike track, and he is not taken in by her thin facade of compassion or her falsely therapeutic tactics. When McMurphy rips her shirt open at the  end of the novel, he symbolically exposes her hypocrisy and deceit, and she is never able to regain power.
